Actors can learn about casting calls and projects scheduled to shoot by checking the Film Commission’s Jobs/Casting Call Page. This page frequently gives an address where headshots and resumes can be submitted.

The Casting Call Page does not always tell what roles are being cast. This information is sometimes circulated to talent agents, so it is in your interest to try to gain the performing experience and exposure that can interest agents and casting directors in you.

If you do not have an agent, the next best thing is to get your headshot and resume in the files of casting directors. They do not represent talent, but are hired by production companies to find actors for roles (usually starting with agencies). Some casting directors specialize in casting “extras.”

Networking at various industry meetings and events is a good way to make yourself known in the community.  Also find individuals and companies listed in the production directories.
